We went on a wild adventure cave tubing while in Belize. We left the kids on the boat at Camp Carnival while we rode a bus to the Jungle in Belize. It was pretty cool. However, what we thought would be a wildly dangerous adventure ride turned out to be a ride on a lazy river.
A girl actually died on this river (our tour guide told us the story- he saved 20 people that day from the same fate, but the girl hit her head on the rock while the river was high and rapidy). The river was really low so we spent part of the time just lifting up our butts (“butts up!”) so we wouldn’t bump them on the bottom.
It was pretty cool to be in the middle of Belize inside a cave in the river. We saw some gorgeous scenes, stalagtites, waterfalls, bat holes (but no bats), and even a howler monkey. Then we scarfed down three mayan tacos. We got back to our tendering boat 2 minutes before the last boat. I’m glad that the ship didn’t leave without us!!
Elvis, our guide. He said we have a home in Belize the next time we visit. Cool guy.
