Ariana has been much harder than Corban lately. If I just had Corban I would have a spotless house and already have read 10 books this summer. But with Ariana we've been trying to make use of this great weather and keep her in a good mood. Ariana is a bit crazy lately. She wants to do everything herself and make all her own choices too. I'll have to admit, she's pretty proficient at some of the tasks she sets herself up to do for her age and her teachers have told us that too. But really, even a talented two year old takes about 10 times longer than a mom who's in a hurry.
Ariana can put on all her clothes including her diaper and shoes by herself (though because she changes her mind about what she wants to wear several times it takes forever.) She has a special way of putting on her jackets. She'll put on her sleeves first with the coat in front of her and then she'll do this quick flip to get the coat on her back. She gets the coat on right about 50% of the time- so half the time it's upside down and when she tries to zip, she gets frustrated.
Ariana can even change Corban's diaper and she's a bit upset that he's breastfed not bottlefed because she really really wants to feed him. She's also very eager to put his pacifier in, even when he's asleep. Ariana loves her baby brother and we're fortunate that she has a lot of love for him. She always remembers to give him a kiss before she goes to bed and if she somehow forgets before she's in her crib, she'll scream for us to get her so she can do it. Ariana talks about "Didi" (little brother) a lot and when she's naming her strawberries she calls the big one "Baba," the second to biggest "Mama" and then one for "Baby" (the thing she calls herself the most- also calls herself Ana for Ariana and Wan Juen, he Chinese name) and one for "Didi." If we go somewhere without him (while Dad is at home) she seems a bit upset about it.
Ariana has definently stepped into the big sister role and is doing great at it! She's becoming a big girl in most ways and has grown up fast in this last month.

So is "didi" a toddler version of something Chinese, or is it just anoter version of "baby"?
Actually Didi is the official child and grown up way to say younger brother, it's not baby talk even if it sounds like it. Most of the family member names have cutsy ways of saying them. Older brother- gege, older sister- jiejie, younger sister- meimei, dad-baba, and mom-mama. Besides it's official use, you can call any little boy Didi and any little girl meimei. You can also use Gege in a different use, like people in a gang who call higher ranking gangbangers gege (older brother).
